I'm not sure it's true that it's unsustainable though. When fiberoptic connections become as ubiquitous as DSL, then we can be assured there will be a massive increase in traffic. What is required for sustainability? Fatter pipes? More computers? Are you suggesting that we won't have enough servers to keep up with the demand? Also, I hear many software companies are now planning on moving their software to online only. I know Adobe just released a notice that they plan on moving to online only software within 10 years. I know that was Microsoft's plan originally, but the internet wasn't fast enough for them at the time. Interesting thought about unsustainable growth. We will be seeing error signs and download problems more often in the future because accessing and delivering the ever growing enormous amount of data will outstrip what technology can do. Eventually there will be a trash problem in the information domain. The important question for entrepreneurs will be, "How can we make money from this?"
