Now this is a tradition I intend to honor. Got up at 6:20, still dark, still icy. Kris and I jaunted over to pleasure point in time for dawn to break, for me to suit up and enjoy shoulder / head high pleasures with only one other person. Eventually as the sun came it got really crowded with 4 of us out. Guess everyone has to open presents before surfing. What odd priorities. I’ll take nature’s gift hands down. The waves were a bit sloppy due to the crazy high tide, but what a way to close out a year and start a day.

Hosted our first Christmas at our new home. First xmas ever in fact as they are usually julie’s parents home. Two big dinners, friday pre-eve and xmas, where I cooked 3 cornish game hens in a red wine reduction sauce. Total success. YUM. We were so hungry we forgot to take a photo of them.

Serenity is no longer a baby. It is official.

Seeing her holding Peter’s baby Olivia really brought that home.

Having her turn to me and ask “Daddy, my nails are too long, can you cut them?” while I can hear “huggey” (that is what sassy calls him), reid’s baby, screaming incoherently over FaceTime left no doubt. She can truly communicate her needs. The days of frustration driven communication tantrums are gone. Now it is a battle of wills between immediate gratification and common sense.

When she asked to go to verve, ordered her own steamed milk and then took it to a table and sipped it all by herself, I knew it was only a matter of time.

For her third birthday, she asked to drive the car.

Julie is a masterful christmas tree decorator. While I’ll admit that I may not be the most joyful of the holiday rebel-rousers (bah-humbug), there is something truly magical about a fresh cut tree that we cultivated ourselves. The smell is nice, the lights are pretty and my wife is so happy.

We’d separated those into a 2.0.1 release (more urgent bugs) and 2.0.2 (still bugs but less urgent). There won’t be a 2.0.3, rather new bug reports will be worked on as part of 2.1.

We went christmas tree hunting in the mountains this evening and had a blast. Will post the whole series as soon as the three is decorated. Stoked to have my mom and dad visiting this weekend.
