Release: Facebook Events 1.0.5
We just pushed an update to our Facebook Events add-on, and you’ll want to update to the 1.0.5 release whenever possible. It is mostly bug fixes, addressing a number of changes or inconsistencies with the Facebook API that have been reported at the forums. These include a couple fairly significant adjustments to the handling of time zones. Please note there are no accompanying builds of The Events Calendar or Events Calendar PRO, so you should have … Continue reading

Freelance writers: write about events plugins for us
Hot on the heels of our QA job posting, we’ve got impending need for a freelance writer to help us write copy leading up to and following the release of The Events Calendar 3.0. If that sounds like your cup of tea, read on.

Freelance QA wanted: work with us
Modern Tribe does a LOT of WordPress projects and plugins, and we’ve got plenty on the docket for the rest of 2013. We’re looking for someone with a keen attention to detail and a mind for quality, who finds nothing greater in life than picking apart a site or plugin to find bugs / UX failings / missing functionality, to help us out with QA testing. You are generally happy, helpful curious and accountable. You’re … Continue reading

Renewing & Upgrading Your License: A Guide
Big news for existing customers: last week we debuted our new shopping cart system, which included a license renewal / upgrade component that should make your lives substantially easier.
The renewal functionality will allow you to renew a license that has expired or is in danger of doing so, without having to contact Modern Tribe directly for a renewal coupon. The upgrade feature gives users the ability to upgrade from one license type to a more robust option that supports more sites (ie, Personal -> Developer). There’s a quick overview of how these work after the jump. Continue reading

Release: WooTickets 1.0.1
We’ve just released an update to our WooTickets add-on, and users should expect to begin seeing update prompts for the 1.0.1 release over the next 24 hours. This release is mostly bug fixes, with a couple minor features and some new translation files thrown in too. Our goal here was to both ensure things play smoothly with yesterday’s WooCommerce 2.0 release, and to address a handful of bugs that users had noted as critical pain … Continue reading

Release: Eventbrite Tickets 1.0.5, Community Events 1.0.5 & Facebook Events 1.0.4
Normally we publish a separate release post for each plugin, to cover the specific breakdown of what features/bug fixes were included that round. But this month’s release is a bit different in the sense that the three plugins mentioned in the title of this post (Eventbrite Tickets 1.0.5, Community Events 1.0.5 and Facebook Events 1.0.4) are all practically unchanged from their previous builds. The updates released today are purely necessary to ensure things run smoothly … Continue reading

Release: The Events Calendar 2.0.11
Though we hadn’t planned another 2.0.x update before releasing The Events Calendar 3.0, a couple critical matters came to our attention this week that required it, and as of this afternoon we’ve released The Events Calendar/Events Calendar PRO 2.0.11. This is a relatively small update, but covers a couple of important issues: First, and most significantly, was a jQuery problem that emerged in the forums a couple days ago. When jQuery 1.9 came out this … Continue reading

Usability Test: The Events Calendar/PRO 3.0 on January 17
Next week we’re hosting our first usability test of 2013, and we’re seeking a trio of participants who are interested in providing feedback. This usability test will coincide with the kickoff of our beta for The Events Calendar/PRO 3.0, and will be one of the first opportunities for folks from the community to see 3.0 in action. We’ll be testing both the frontend and backend experience, asking participants to focus on some of the newer … Continue reading

Release: Hotfix for WP 3.5 bugs in Events Calendar PRO 2.0.10 & Community 1.0.4
As some of you may be aware, there were a couple of bugs that emerged in Community Events & Events Calendar PRO with the release of WordPress 3.5 earlier this week. These issues impacted both the display of the backend events list and your frontend events/community submission form. Once these were reported to us, we got the team together to strategize a fix and figured out the most effective course of action last night. As … Continue reading

Facebook Events: Clearing up timezone confusion
Over at his blog, our own support guru Barry Hughes published a post this weekend that overlaps nicely with the work he’s doing for us at Modern Tribe. It focused on a point of frustration we’ve been seeing at the Facebook Events forum, where — for sites in timezones outside of Pacific time — imported events show an incorrect hour offset. Barry writes: When you create a new event Facebook will intelligently determine what the … Continue reading
