• PRO 2.0: Templating System, Migration & More

We’re down to the final stretch with Events Calendar Pro 2.0: the latest & final round of the beta is in the bands of our capable testers, our developers are squashing the few bugs that remain and we’re putting the finishing touches on the site where all this stuff is going to live. We’ve got our work cut out for us over the next week or so. Before jumping too far into it, though, there …

  • PRO 2.0: Adding Custom Events Attributes

Every wished you could add a checkbox for “dietary options” or a dropdown for “DJ” to your event editor? Now you can with Events Calendar PRO. It is an extremely easy process that is managed in the plugin settings. As you’ve seen above, custom event attributes allow you to provide more detail about what’s happening at your events. To configure them, head to Settings –> The Events Calendar and navigate into the “Additional Fields” tab. …

  • Events Calendar Pro 2.0: Call for Round 3 Beta Testers

It’s official: we’re having another beta. While we’d originally planned on ending our 2.0 beta with the conclusion of round 2 — which wrapped up at the end of July — it’s become apparent that there’s enough new code to justify a round 3.

  • What We’re Coding This Week

Because it’s been a few days since our last update, I thought it’d be worthwhile to share an update covering what we’re focused on this week — we’re revving at full throttle on a number of fronts and are simultaneously tackling new 2.0 features and working out a few bugs in the 1.3.2 code. Check out the specifics after the jump.

  • Events: Menu Options & Hiding From “List” View

There are a number of smaller features in Events Calendar Pro 2.0 that, while not as glamorous or in-depth as recurring events or custom meta, are worth giving some air time to. After the jump check out a walkthrough covering a couple of these smaller — but no less worthwhile — features: using the new events menu option, and the “Hide from Upcoming Events List” checkbox.

  • Pro 2.0: A Detailed Look at Custom Recurrence

While we previously wrote an article on the broader recurrence functionality in Events Calendar Pro 2.0, one aspect that we didn’t get to focus on enough to do it justice was the exact use of the “Custom” recurrence option. Unlike it’s more standard counterparts (“Every Day,” “Every Week,” “Every Month” & “Every Year”), the “Custom” field is quite detailed and allows you to build recurring events so finely customized that they could meet any event …

  • Pro 2.0: Custom Meta

Beyond recurring events, another feature we’ve added in Events Calendar Pro 2.0 that significantly alters the plugin’s functionality is the inclusion of custom meta data. While users of ECP were previously limited to just the few event settings we’d hardcoded in, those days are soon to be a thing of the past. Now, site administrators have an option in the settings panel to add additional meta fields of their choosing, beyond the defaults. After the …

  • Pro 2.0: A First Look at Recurring Events

One of the biggest highlights of the upcoming Events Calendar Pro 2.0 has to be its inclusion of recurring events — hands down the most requested feature by our users, recurring events will save site administrators the effort of having to set repeat events up one at a time. After the jump, you’ll find a more detailed overview of what recurrence has to offer, featuring some of the first-ever screenshots of it’s backend & frontend functionality. Enjoy.

Big thanks to all the participants (truly making up a range of folks building completely different websites all around the world) who have given us some solid feedback to work off as we keep moving towards our September launch. Our next step at this …
