Next Gen Tech: A Cautionary Tale
Yesterday, my iPhone became the latest victim of a wave of buggy units. About 3 months after unboxing the phone I lost the entire bottom strip of touch sensitivity. For those of you who don’t have an iPhone, that means no call button, no email, no Safari, and no iPod. Add that to a number of other functions that are tied to being able to touch the bottom of the screen and you begin to … Continue reading

How to get 100,000 users in 1 month
Not all freelancers are content to provide services to their clients until the day they willfully leap into the grave. You’ve all heard Leo talk about multiple income streams. The most popular strategy these days? Make the next killer app, widget or plug-in. So, how do you turn your tiny startup idea into a full-fledged, well funded, revenue-generating business? Sitting in the Hot Seat
This is off the business topic, but it certainly is a major issue for all of us who work from home, especially Macbook Pro users. You see, I love my new laptop but it has a few particularities. It runs 3x hotter than my PC – so hot, in fact, that I have a hard time working with it on my lap. Normally, it would not be that big a deal. That is until Julie … Continue reading

Moving from PC to Mac
Yup. After after 20 years of insane loyalty to the PC, I’m switching. Which is somewhat crazy because I was the guy with the green monochrome screen who played zork on his DOS based IBM before anyone had ever heard of a mouse. I’ve mocked Mac users as technically handicapped (designers exempt) since I was old enough to type. So why switch now, after all this history?

The Price of Simplicity
It can be hard to explain why a really simple UI design should cost more than a complex one. Here’s how I like to look at it: Good UI does the work for you.

stack overflow at line: 0
For those of you who have never encountered the most undescriptive error message Internet Explorer has to offer, it’s a doozie. No graceful javascript error, just an infinite popup with the words “stack overflow at line: 0″.
