Dear Shane,

I found you on a lovely tangent-hunt from one linked blog to another and I'm glad of it! First, I love the blog, and your business site is simple, elegant, and convincing. Wonderful work.

Reading this post brought back one of my favorite memories of big company boo-boos: an anniversary issue of Ms. magazine, some years ago, with Feminism misspelled on the front cover. I turned to the table of contents, looking for an explanation (still assuming it was an error made to catch my eye and an article inside would elucidate), read part of the article the cover referred to—it was a long grocery line—and realized it was just a great big typo on the cover of the most important mag in feminist thinking.

I put the issue back on the stand. I can't tell you how many times I've wished I bought it, just to remind me that fresh eyes must check work before it goes out! A little outside Perspective goes a long way.

Regards,

Kelly

I've been working on a few high profile projects and it's amazing how many misspelled words and grammatical errors I found in their published magazine and on their website.

I just told Eric this morning that either people don't care as much as they should or our educational system is really in need of a revamp.

Personally, I think it's both...but, back to reviewing our own work. :P

I definitely agree. Having someone else review your work after you are finished is vital. I've learned this lesson the hard way. No matter how perfect I think it is...errors can and do show up. What's really bad is when it's too late to fix it.

Thanks for the great post and enjoy the rest of your time off!

Quite amusing. :-)

I have a (mostly mental) checklist that I go through for each web site I work on. I do have a written version of it as well, though I don't usually need to refer to it.
