thanks reid! I’m not sure how many i’ll be building. It’s only practical if i can get the plastic made in germany. Otherwise it’s way too heavy for travel. But I’d prefer these over the ikea frames that we were planning on.
I’ll probably make a pile of these here too for art shows and sales.
Looks like there’s a couple more technical challenges too:
1. the nuts scratch my wall – thinking of dipping them in rubber or finding rubber caps
2. the fishing line that’s used for hanging them is OK but not stellar. Thinking about either making it so they bolt directly into the wall (seems sort of destructive) or making thin metal wires that come up off the top bolts and hang higher up. That would effectively make 2 lines rise from the top two bolts. Otherwise, the fishing line is not so bad if the nail that it’s hanging on is the same color as the wall.
That looks awesome. Your mom’s work has some much life, it needs a minimal frame. Nice work peter. How many more of these do you have to build?
