The development side of themes is what is covered. Template tags, how to perform specific tasks (listing all author information for recently published authors), and how to get certain templates to show up.
Stuff like that. I did get into the plugin API for some of the recipes, but they already had a plugin book in the works so the focus of this is themes.

I guess it’s a little bit of a bummer that 2.9 is now out… how much of the book is 2.8 specific? Maybe you can just tweak some stuff and up it to 2.9.
Yeah, we’re going to change the title and I’ve been writing with 2.9 targeted all along. No big deal, really.
