Activating The Events Calendar + PRO in one swoop

I am looking for a solution to remove the “core” plugin (The Events Calendar) form the plugins.php list (that is an easy task) and link the activation of the PRO plugin (The Events Calendar Pro) to the core plugin.
I want to let users activate the pro version without them knowing about the dependency of the free plugin.

Anyone done that already? Any ideas?

Interesting idea! You could potentially use the activate_plugin action to “listen” for activations then go ahead and programmatically activate the core plugin from there: it’s a bit beyond what we can help you with, but we can certainly leave this open and see what ideas other members of the community might have 🙂
