Even after the discussion on the previous ticket (https://theeventscalendar.com/support/forums/topic/recurring-event-url/), my client still insisted on finding a way to properly redirect to the next upcoming instance. I find it hard to disagree with their logic.
To accomplish this, I’ve had to manually edit the plugin. I want to show my work to 1) encourage this to be filterable by a developer and/or 2) see if there’s a better way.
In events-calendar-pro.php on line 390, I’ve updated the function to look through recurring instances, find any in the future, and redirect to that instead of ‘/all’: https://gist.github.com/logoscreative/94bb1d29b2a4df2750c5
I’d love for someone to take a look and give any thoughts on doing this better. I obviously don’t want to manually edit files, but I saw no other way to control these redirects. :/
Thanks!
November 24, 2014 at 9:25 am #897127BrianKeymasterThanks for providing the coding.
There is not much I can suggest with this, if it works for you it is the best way as it is not a feature we have or support.
I agree editing files is not the best way to make changes, but in this case I do not see a way around it if you have to have this functionality.
Unfortunately, the only things I can really do is what Casey said and to refer you to uservoice to request it.

I can answer any follow up questions you have, but not able to do much more then that.
Thanks
