The Private Option
My dad just got his recent essay published in Oped News. Check it out. Feel free to comment (he loves getting feedback)

I love the one comment: “I can’t tell if this is satire.” to which if I didn’t know your dad I would assume it was, but knowing your dad I know he is totally serious.
which leaves me baffled as to how to respond
Funny thing is you have it 180ยบ backwards. It’s totally satire.
That’s awesome.
Shane: took me a while to see that it was satire, since I’ve had these same conversations with people about privatizing everything — including roads and ATC. But then I looked at the tagline in the header logo.
Peter:
I think Shane meant to say “but knowing your dad [is old] I know he is totally serious[, because all old people are right wingers]“.
Naw, Shane and my dad just have a history of serious debates. My dad’s got a pretty committed debate face, but ultimately he’s liberal by virtue of his sincerely critical nature and his big heart.
Now that I see it’s satire, I love the article. I, like Dan, have had the “privatize everything” debate with people who are completely serious about it.
