Definitely guilty of #2! I don’t know about the situation in the states, but in the netherlands the interest you get from the IRS is higher than any savings account
And since the interest of the mortgage on the house is deductable, our refund is considerable. We could ask for a monthly refund, but I like to feel the real pain from the mortgage payments. Keeps me sharp.

It’s been quite a while since I saw a tax refund (the perils of being a profitable business owner). House deductions just means I pay less. That said – I don’t really mind tax payments within reason. I paid around 30% give or take when it was all said and done.

I am #3 today. This is the exact day that I have had. My bank account has been used like a cheap one night stand by the Australian Tax Office today. Not happy!
