University of Rochester Human Resources
Two websites give several audiences access to this university’s HR information
The University of Rochester was on a mission to build a more cohesive, user-friendly web experience for current and prospective employees, faculty, and retirees across administration, academics, and the medical center. They leaned on Modern Tribe’s extensive higher education experience to work within and expand their existing design system and technical stack to build a dedicated human resources website and a robust, searchable policies repository.
We conducted extensive stakeholder and user research, including a series of on-site workshops and trainings, to identify measurable goals, establish intentional messaging, and ensure the content architecture and development—and subsequent design and technical development—met all the criteria for success. Along the way, we managed a significant rewrite of their human resources web content and a migration of over 100 policies from departmental websites across campus—no small feat for a large, decentralized research institution.
