The Irish News
A new design system takes a historic publication into the realm of digital-first media
Founded in 1891, The Irish News is the largest morning newspaper in Northern Ireland. Modern Tribe, in conjunction with our agency partner Superlative, transitioned them to a digital-first publishing model. Our design teams conceived a digital experience that merges the history and culture of a vibrant newsroom with the expectations of modern media consumers.
To meet the vast needs of a digital paper, we designed unique solutions for key departments—sports, lifestyle, and finance—as well as highly functional solutions for dynamic spaces featuring soccer scores, weather reports, obituaries, and classified ads. The engineering team at The Irish News took our design strategy and ran with it.
