We’ve been aware of some issues with the FB import plugin for the past couple weeks and have been working diligently to push out a release fixing a number of things. It is a high priority item and you can expect to see a release very soon. Please be patient and wait until those fixes are released because they will likely resolve your issues.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks,
JonahMarch 11, 2013 at 8:46 am #42211NitinParticipantHi Jonah.. Appreciate the response. If I can help in testing of alpha or beta version, I’m more than happy to spare some time. I’ll be running this plugin on WP and WPMS both..
Thanks

We’ve already completed most of our testing and are just working on some last minute tweaks so I think we’re all set but thanks for the offer. Stay tuned for the release soon.

March 20, 2013 at 8:41 am #43404JonahParticipantHi Nitin,
You should be able to filter the size with the ‘tribe_fb_get_facebook_photo’ filter. I’m not sure about this though and am checking with a developer. Stay tuned.
Thanks,
JonahMarch 20, 2013 at 9:06 am #43411JonahParticipantHi Nitin,
I got word back from our developer. He says we are currently getting the full sized image from Facebook even though Facebook doesn’t officially offer it via their API. So, you could filter the function and get a smaller size if you wanted but it should be getting the full size image already.
Let me know if you need any more help with this.

I’ve checked it multiple times, but images downlaoded from FB are always small thumbnails. There is a recent change in FB Events and now you can see the big poster attached with each event (more than 500px width). If it is confirmed as working, it would be awesome and I’d like to figure it out somehow. I can share a backend id with you to check.

NitinApril 9, 2013 at 8:43 am #45358JonahParticipantHi Nitin,
Do you have some examples of FB events that have larger pictures that are importing with small thumbnails?
Thanks,
– JonahApril 9, 2013 at 11:31 am #45392lorandzoParticipantSame issue, all my events are imported with small thumbnails. For example, these events :

Requesting you to pls check for this event (shared by Laurent) at your end
http://www.facebook.com/events/143982232439608/Its a public event with big cover photo. While in import, a very small image is getting downloaded.
Also check this thread @ FB, where guys have confirmed this issue as fixed and cover image can be accessed now with using cover in place of picture.
https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/214434155366227If we get this working, it will make my life 500% easier 🙂
Regards
NitinApril 9, 2013 at 3:01 pm #45421JonahParticipantHi guys, ok I see what you’re talking about. I’m asking one of our developers what can be done about this and will get back to you here when I know more. Stay tuned.
April 12, 2013 at 2:43 am #45633lorandzoParticipantHi guys ! Until a proper way is found to fix this issue and for those who are interested, you can import events with large cover pictures by changing the 2 following lines in the function get_facebook_photo (but you won’t be able to import facebook events with previous image standard !) :
$api_url = $this->build_url_with_access_token( $object_id . ‘/’, array( ‘fields’ => ‘cover’, ‘return_ssl_resources’ => 1 ) );
instead of :
$api_url = $this->build_url_with_access_token( $object_id . ‘/’, array( ‘fields’ => ‘picture’, ‘type’ => $size, ‘return_ssl_resources’ => 1 ) );$new_path = $api_request->cover->source;
instead of :
$new_path = str_replace(“_q.”, “_n.”, $api_request->cover->data->url);Regards,
